The 8U division will focus on the fundamentals of youth softball. Players will get their first experience of competitive softball. The games have umpires and score will be kept. While we do keep score, we place much more emphasis on learning the game and having fun. We feel we have created a great environment for 6 through 8-year-olds to learn and enjoy softball.
The division is "coach pitch." This helps players to learn to read the ball leaving the pitcher's hand at an early age. In addition, this league will address the fundamentals of hitting, throwing, catching and fielding. Developing the players understanding of baserunning, situational plays, etc will also be key components. All players will play each inning and each team will bat a full roster. Games are 6 innings or 1 hour 15 minutes. An 11-inch ball is used.
