About Us:
For the past 60 years, Smithville Diamonds has been the home to multiple generations of athletes to learn, grow and compete. With aging facilities, we risk not being able to provide the same experience for future generations.
Our Board of Directors have developed a plan of improvements to ensure we maintain the experience our league is known for.
Smithville Diamonds is a volunteer-led non-profit organization that prides itself in providing a quality youth sports experience at an affordable price. Last season, over 550 players participated in our leagues. We have always relied on the strength of the community to keep the league going strong. And now, more than ever, we need that support.
The total cost for the revitalization project is $1.3 million. All donations and support, big or small, will help us move closer to our goal of solidifying another 60 years at Smithville Diamonds.
Our Goals:
- Lighting Replacement - Our current field lighting system is past its intended lifespan and may soon present safety concerns. We plan to replace all field lighting with new poles, updated wiring and energy-efficient LED fixtures.
- Batting Cage Replacement - The existing structure and netting are outdated and no longer meet the needs of our players. New and quality cages allow for a safe practice environment for both players and coaches.
- Infield Conversions - To improve field conditions and reduce rainouts, all existing infields will be converted to Synthetic Field Turf. This upgrade means fewer cancellations and lower maintenance costs.
- Parking and Accessibility - To improve the overall experience for families and fans, we will address potholes throughout the parking lot and make upgrades to better accommodate handicapped parking and accessibility needs.
